Used solely by B2C organisations, the beauty of this type of communiqué is that there is no requirement for data, or enveloping the printed piece, because the targeted item is usually delivered to an entire postcode sector. The 'outward' portion of the postcode e.g. 'AB11' and the numeric digit of the 'inward' portion of the postcode e.g. '6' are used together to determine the recipients of the campaign e.g. 'AB11 6'. This allows mailers the use of approximately 11,600 unique regions.
