Great visual design and strong appealing copy is the very essence of any successful communication, but combining the two elements is not simply a case of keeping your fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
It's helpful if we have a brief, that way we may fully understand what the client's objectives are, and put a process in place to meet them. Usually the brief will contain precise details of the audience: physical and emotional characteristics and details of the product or service being promoted. If we are responsible for the selected media source, then details such as the resolution, size, format and deadlines will already be known, otherwise these would also form part of the brief. Of course there are occasions where we will be responsible for the brief as well, for example when we're leading the client's marketing strategy.
